POMMIERS, a village in Beaujolais Pommier an ancient village with saint try’s cave which was occupied by our neolythic ancestors. The site of Buisante was occupied from the time of Solutreo-magdalenienne, by the evidence given from its cut flints found on the site. The village seems to have slid to the foot of the hill of Buisante, a height of 357m doubtless the place of the origional villa Buisanta( or the villa Pomerii) in the time of the gallo romans. On this site the 19th century chapel of Buisante was built. Pommier depended on the civil plan of the men of Beaujeu, the boundary situated at the cross of the border marked the limit between Beaujolais and Lyonais. For religious direction the village depended on the abbey of “l’ile barbe” a tithing boundary that even today marks the limit in the North of the community. there is a school in the center of the village ![]() I invite you to discover the community of POMMIERS in BEAUJOLAIS,
